Welcome

Brazos Valley Groundwater Conservation District LogoThe Brazos Valley Groundwater Conservation District is a not-for-profit local government that was created in 2001 by the 77th Texas Legislature with a directive to protect and conserve the groundwater resources of Brazos and Robertson counties. The District was confirmed by a majority of the voters in both Robertson and Brazos Counties in the general election held November 5, 2002.

The District's primary goal, and legally required mandate, is to make sure that enough good quality groundwater stays in our area for future generations. The District will direct its efforts toward preventing waste, collecting data, educating people about water conservation, and preventing irreparable harm to the aquifer. It is the desire of the District Board to maintain a balance between protecting the rights of private landowners and the responsibility to protect the area's groundwater resources so it will be there for future generations.
